Tornados, earthquakes, droughts, floods and other weather seem stranger lately?
Is living a sustainable life and taking care of our planet something we should teach our young adults?
This class will serve as a solution think tank that will work together on issues and contribute to the .edu high school and beyond level climate science research. We will learn about climate issues affecting our planet right now through one of the most advanced books available on iPad, iPod touch or iPhone through the Apple App Store.
Our Choices by Al Gore in the Apple App Store will be our primary source of class curriculum learning followed by hi-tech student implemented projects. These projects could range from AV Presentations, Media Videos, Solar Panel and Wind Turbine building and more. Earth Day could be a showcase day for this class where projects are displayed in our school and community. This Ebook format of curriculum delivery has proven to be more engaging than traditional textbooks by including

What classroom / school need, problem or opportunity does this proposed project address?
We have all wondered when would be the day that computers would replace paper textbooks. Ebooks are now more interactive, amazing and less expensive than ever before. Many students are equipped with their own iPod and iPhones or even iPads and only need the Ebook on their device. This method of allowing students to use their own devices for this class along with suplemented iPad's could serve as a pilot project to see if GPS is ready to begin adopting more Ebooks now or waiting.
A question in this matter should be the Approval of the App "Our Choice" by Al Gore. This interactive Ebook is the number one best seller in the App Store and currently the most modern Ebook App that has been developed thus far. The technology alone that produced this Ebook was industry setting. The idea of having a class that is completely on iPads and an couple of Apps has only recently been a potentially achievable goal.
What are your goals?
You went to college or work because you were good at something. Our students need to be ready for something that will at bare minimum allow them a good life. Since I have had my GPS iPad in use for some time now, I am getting proficient in its ability. The simplicity of the hardware allows for complex Apps that are becoming part of our daily lives. Increasing numbers of Apple Products in the market prove that Apple commands respect. GPS does have a lot of computers but how many Apple Products do we currently have in student use? I can count all the locations on one hand. News increasingly shows careers in Climate Science are at a great demand. No Matter. The lessons we will learn along our path will teach us how to live smarter be prepared for our future. I can foresee a proud Magnet class that draws attention to scholarship offering higher education institutions to class graduates.

This web site shall serve as the most up to date information on this topic. All information should be first published on this page before it is available in print. Conserving paper and ink is a high priorty of the HTCS Class. Media performed should be first be designed for this evolving web site. Ordering the 10 iPad2's should be enough hardware for each team of 2 students to share one device. Teamwork is encouraged. These additional iPad2's along with the with hardware that is already in B102 at GHS will be enough to operate at great efficiency. We will also need to get 10 additional power strips to account for the extra charging needs. A locking cabinet is already in place in B102 at GHS needs minor modification to serve this task.
How many pupils will be affected by this project? Please explain the number.
An added bonus of this plan is that the hardware needed for this class could be used all day by students in class classes, specifically assigned to a serial number marked iPad. Potentially over 160 students would be able to make use of the hardware. (Seven Classes x 23 seats in computer lab = 161 students)
What will happen to the project at the conclusion of the grant?
After one pilot project year, the program will be evaluated by The Grove High School Principal. The program may be canceled by the GPS Superintendant or the GHS Principal. In the event the project does not continue after the pilot year, GEFFE would determine how GPS may use the iPad2's. It is reasonable to believe that if this grant is funded, the funds will be used as a Startup for the new HTCS Program. Continuation or expanding funds should be gathered by the program through fundraisers or GPS district supported funding.
